In recent weeks, the National Museum of Risorgimento Italian saw the return of two important works after a period on loan to major cultural institutions in the country.
📍 “Vittorio Emanuele II and the Zouaves. Victory of Palestro” by Luigi Norfini participated in the exhibition “The King's Painter. Luigi Norfini in Italy of the Risorgimento”, promoted by the National Museums of Lucca and the Museum of Palazzo Galeotti in Pescia.
📍 “Garibaldi in Marsala (11 May 1860)” by Gerolamo Induno was instead hosted by the National Museums of Matera at Palazzo Lanfranchi.
These exchanges between institutions are not isolated incidents, but structural practices that strengthen research, promotion, and circulation of cultural heritage. The return of the works thus marks not a conclusion, but a new phase in interpretation and engagement with the public.
Both works await you again in the rooms of the Museum.
