The flag-bearing casket was once again put on public display following the completion of a major restoration project that allowed it to be fully restored to the museum's permanent collection. The presentation took place in the presence of patron Marziano Marzano, President Luisa Papotti, and Director Alessandro Bollo, who explained the work's significance within the context of the collections and their historical interpretation.
The artifact is located in Room 2 and was donated to the city of Turin in 1898, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Albertine Statute. The work documents the delivery of the "Flag of Gratitude or Honor" by numerous Italian cities to the city of Turin, recognized as the cradle of Risorgimento.
The conservation work was carried out by the La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre and required a complex technical and scientific approach, given the complexity of the materials and execution techniques.
The project was made possible thanks to the support of Art Bonus and the patronage of Marziano Marzano himself, to whom the Museum expresses its gratitude.
The coffin is a permanent feature of the exhibition, as part of the activities of conservation, study and enhancement of the heritage.
