PORTRAITS

A journey to discover the evolution of photographic portraiture from Lewis Heine to Nan Goldin, edited by Tiziana Bonomo. A look at humanity through myths, current events, and emotions through Bachelot Collection.

The exhibition, promoted by theImago Mundi Cultural Association and edited by Tiziana Bonomo, exhibits around 90 original portraits selected from one of the most important private photographic collections in France and Europe, permeated by a profound humanist spirit.

Several well-known authors such as Lewis Hine, Arnold Newman, Irwing Penn, Dorothea Lange, Saul Leiter, Nan Goldin, Ann Ray, Mohamed Bourouissa and Gilles Caron, make up a constellation of gazes that spans the twentieth century and the contemporary era.

The exhibition in natural harmony with the National Museum of the Risorgimento Italian, a gallery of the protagonists of an era in Italian history, offers a video sample of the 17.000 photographic documents the museum holds. Among some of the subjects of the Risorgimento portraits of the Countess of Castiglione emerge, who was the first in the 800th century to use photography to promote her own charm. 

Portraiture brings us closer, questions us, and invites us to dialogue, creating new moments marked by the impact of what simple contemplation can evoke in us. The exhibition is divided into four thematic sections: Myths, Emotions, Society and Current EventsAnd precisely in this summer time, suspended and personal, "PORTRAITS. Florence and Damien Bachelot Collection” presents itself as an opportunity to rediscover the gaze of others as a breath, a mirror of who we are.
