Reread the Risorgimento

The exhibition Reread the RisorgimentoTurin / Italy: 1884-2024, curated by Alessandro Bollo, Silvia Cavicchioli and Daniela Orta, aims to commemorate, 140 years after the event, the first exhibition of the Museum of Risorgimento: the Temple of the Risorgimento within the Italian General Exhibition of 1884 in the Valentino Park, a temporary but national-scale installation, a prelude to the subsequent establishment of the Museum in 1901.

What remains of these values? What does it mean today? RisorgimentoHow can we interpret their stories and characters in a contemporary way? With Reread the Risorgimento. Turin / Italy: 1884-2024 yes wants to reflect on these questions and on the contemporaneity of values ​​deeply rooted in the past, but still relevant today.

In Monumental Corridor of the Italian Chamber find space memorabilia from the institutions that today study and treat the Risorgimento in Italy: paintings, objects – such as the imposing bell that rang during the Five Days of Milan, Giuseppe Mazzini's guitar, or Garibaldi's slippers – and a selection of film clips, curated by the National Cinema Museum, which instead hark back to the imagery of celluloid.

Reread the RisorgimentoTurin / Italy: 1884-2024 it is the result of a choral and national effort that involved the most important Italian museums Risorgimento in its realizationThe exhibited materials come from: Catanzaro Municipality – Palazzo de' Nobili; Domus Mazziniana, Pisa; Fondazione Camillo Cavour, Santena (To); Mazzinian Institute – Museum of the Risorgimento, Genoa; Civic Museum of the Risorgimento, Bologna; Museum of the Risorgimento “Lioness of Italy”, Brescia; Museum of the Risorgimento – Civic Museums of Udine; Museum of the Risorgimento "Vittorio Emanuele Orlando” – Sicilian Society for the History of the Country, Palermo; Palazzo Moriggia – Museum of the Risorgimento of Milan; Garibaldi Museums of Caprera and the Neapolitan Society of National History.
