The exhibition, organised by the National Museum of Risorgimento Italian, from the Piedmont Regional Council and the Polo del '900, reconstructs the long history of the “Gazzetta del Popolo” in an exhibition spanning three locations, from its origins in 1848 until the newspaper's closure in 1983. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Order of Journalists, the Pestelli Center, the Departments of Humanistic Studies and Historical Studies of the University of Turin, the Mondovì Printing Museum, and the Donat Cattin Foundation.
At the National Museum of Risorgimento the exhibition of documents, photographs, prints, objects and front pages, mostly from theHistorical Archive of the Gazzetta del People, Preserved at the Museum, it traces the years from 1848 to 1915 in four chronological and thematic sections. From its origins in 1848, which marked the entry into the world of printing of a new newspaper accessible in format, language, and price, aimed at increasingly broader segments of the population, to its support for patriotic struggles, up until the move of the capital; from its support for Crispi's policies, to its transformation, with the new century, into a complex information tool, gradually taking on industrial aspects and dimensions, up until Italy's entry into the war, which the "Gazzetta" supported with a complex campaign of mobilization and propaganda, in which it would continue to play a primary role throughout the conflict.
