Since 1878, the National Museum of Risorgimento Italiano holds an extraordinary heritage of paintings, sculptures, historical uniforms, period photographs, weapons, and documents that recount the birth of Italy through collections unique in the world.

Since its inception in 1878, the National Museum of Risorgimento The Italian Museum houses collections of extraordinary richness and variety: paintings, drawings, and sculptures; textile collections featuring uniforms and flags, including rare examples from Mutual Aid Societies and political clubs; the Numismatic Collection, with approximately 2.000 decorations from Italian and foreign orders of chivalry, military and commemorative medals; the Iconographic Cabinet, which houses 7.000 prints, 1.100 maps, 17.500 photographic prints, including important shots from the Crimean War, stereoscopic plates of the 1860 bombing of Gaeta, and documentation of the travels of the Duke of the Abruzzi, as well as the extremely rare Album of the Countess of Castiglione; 5.500 postcards, dating from their early use in the 1870s; the Poster Collection, with approximately 6.000 items; and the Military Collection of bladed weapons, firearms, and equipment.
The collection is further enriched by special collections: the Dalsani Collection (approximately 6.000 prints and drawings) and the Marianetti Collection (on loan from the CRT Foundation), consisting of 3.500 prints and maps and over 2.000 posters.
The heritage is constantly growing thanks to private donations.
